Richarlison's stunning goal against Serbia in the FIFA World Cup for Brazil

Richarlison thought back to his tears when he thought he might miss the World Cup after scoring both goals as Brazil defeated Serbia 2-0 to begin their quest for a sixth championship on Thursday.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward told Brazilian television network TV Globo that his second-half hat trick in the Group G match at the Lusail Stadium was “a boyhood dream come true.”We performed admirably, particularly in the second half when we took advantage of our opponents’ growing fatigue.

He saved his best for last, however, scoring with a stunning acrobatic scissor kick in the 73rd minute after controlling a cross from Vinicius.

After the 25-year-old was forced off the field with a calf injury while playing for Spurs in a Premier League match against his former team Everton in the middle of October, there were concerns he wouldn’t make the Brazil squad for the competition.

“I was in tears and unsure of whether or not I would come four weeks ago. One of the slowest days of my life was the day I had my tests because I was waiting on a stretcher there, “he said.
